BOOM! Breaking news out of Columbus as 2019 four star linebacker, Tommy Eichenberg, has committed to the Buckeyes. With the commitment of Eichenberg, the Buckeyes are now up to 16 commits in their 2019 class.
Eichenberg, a 6’3, 225 pound linebacker out of Cleveland, Ohio, had been a Boston College commit since June. However, with the Buckeyes staff realizing the need for more linebackers in this class, the attention turned to some in state guys such as Eichenberg. He plays a very instinctive inside linebacker roll, and he is always around the ball making plays. When you look at the current Buckeye linebackers, this is something they struggle to do well, so Eichenberg is a big get for the staff.
Saint Ignatius has always been a tough area for the Buckeyes to recruit, but they worked hard for Eichenberg’s commitment. This 2019 class currently sits outside of the top 10, but the staff have seemed to really take another look at some talented in-state players like Eichenberg late in this 2019 cycle. This marks the first verbal commit under new Buckeye head coach, Ryan Day.
Welcome to Buckeye Nation, Tommy, we are glad to have you!
Here are the official highlights for Eichenberg.
