Breaking news out of Columbus as 2020 four star wide receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, has committed to the Buckeyes. With the commitment of Smith-Njigba, the Buckeyes are now up to seven commits in their 2020 class.
Smith-Njigba is a new name for a lot of Buckeye fans. The 6’1 wide receiver out of Rockwall, Texas, was offered by the Buckeyes on September 17th, and made an unofficial visit on Saturday to Columbus during the Nebraska game. The Buckeyes staff made Smith-Njigba a priority, and the two parties moved fast towards a commitment.
The Buckeyes had 100% of the crystal ball predictions, but they had to beat out Notre Dame for Smith-Njigba’s services. The Buckeyes are after a lot of the top receivers in the 2020 class, but Smith-Njigba gives fellow 2020 quarterback commit, Jack Miller, his first official receiver to throw to in this historic looking class.
This season, Smith-Njigba has 76 catches for 1,379 yards and 16 touchdowns, showing off the game changing ability he displays on a consistent game basis.
The commitment of Smith-Njigba gives the Buckeyes their second commitment of the day, as he joins 2019 running back, Marcus Crowley, who committed earlier today.
Welcome to Buckeye Nation, Jaxon, we are glad to have you!
