After Tyjon Lindsey and Trevon Grimes committed back in late August, many thought the only other WR that would potentially make his way into the class was four-Star Jaylen Harris from northern ohio. Once Harris committed to the buckeyes earlier this year, the position seemed filled. But after a shocking decommitment from Lindsey, it opened the door for new names to enter, and that has now been filled with three-star Elijah Gardiner out of Kemp, TX.
Gardiner is another big bodied receiver, like Grimes and Harris. Standing at 6’5”, he will make almost anybody feel small. But only weighing 185 pounds means he has a ton of room to grow and develop physically. He holds just five offers and had been committed to Missouri since November of last year, but once Ohio State called, it was a no brainer for Gardiner.
This is a Kevin Wilson special as Wilson was heavily recruiting the Kemp native back at Indiana, so it is obvious that Urban Meyer is giving Wilson some leeway to make big time recruiting moves, including taking a guy that many have never even heard of and is not even in the top 150 WRs in the class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Gardiner will almost surely redshirt as he will need time to adjust to the college game, but hopefully this young man will pan out, for both he and Wilson’s sake.
