Breaking news from the 2018 NFL Draft as former Buckeye linebacker, Jerome Baker, has been selected by the Miami Dolphins with the #73 overall pick. The selection of Baker makes him the fourth Buckeye to be drafted so far and the first linebacker off the board for Ohio State.
The Dolphins are getting an athletic freak in Baker. He is one of the fastest linebackers in this entire draft and has the ability to dominate and take over games with his athletic ability. He has a lot of Ryan Shazier like qualities to his game, such as being able to move side to side and make plays all over the field withe ease. Baker played running back in high school, so he also has dynamic playmaking ability when the ball is in his hands and has a knock for the big play.
In his Buckeye career, Baker totaled 159 tackles, including 17.5 tackles for a loss, seven sacks, and two interceptions. In today’s NFL where teams are trying to create mismatches against linebackers, Baker is a player that can put a stop to that and keep up with opposing running backs and wide receivers.
Baker joins Shazier, Raekwon McMillian, and John Simon as he is the fourth current linebacker in the NFL from Ohio State.
Congratulations, Jerome! We at Buckeye Nation are excited for you as you enter the next step of your journey. Welcome to Miami!
