The Buckeye basketball team took on High Point today in their last game before they dive into Big Ten conference play. Chris Holtmann’s team would top the Panthers 82-64 as they grabbed their 12th win of the season against what has typically been a solid mid-major team.
The Buckeyes started off alright but would quickly go cold for an extended period of the half as they fell down as much as six points. Kaleb Wesson re-entered the game after this cold stretch and the Bucks would manage to get going again as they went on a huge run of their own. Luther Muhammad began to catch fire offensively and absolutely dominated on the defensive end as well. He would finish the half with 14 points while also locking down the Panther’s leading scorer Jahaad Proctor holding him to under five points in the first 20 minutes. Andre Wesson also brought some fire to the team with 7 points and 7 boards. Kaleb Wesson affected the game in a big way as usual distributing the ball and hitting some nice shots as well.
Ohio State continued their run immediately in the second half opening up on a 14-4 run leading into the first media timeout. C.J. Jackson also opened up scoring 12 points in the first 8 minutes of the second half. Keyshawn Woods ran the point often which allowed Jackson to work well off the ball to get open jump shots off screens. The Panthers also began to press, however the Buckeyes mostly broke it easily leading to layups and dunks. The Buckeyes moved the ball incredibly well and kept up their defensive dominance coasting to victory number 12 on the year.

The Buckeyes moved to 12-1 now finishing up their non-conference schedule. They looked very solid despite their slow start to the game and will now look to continue this great play heading into the tough conference schedule. Coach Holtmann surely will have his team ready and the Bucks will likely continue their early success throughout the rest of the season.
The Bucks will take on Michigan State on Fox next Saturday at noon in Columbus.
