What. A. Game. Ohio State plays their best basketball of the year and defeats the number 16 ranked Wisconsin Badgers 83-73. Early on you could tell the Buckeyes came to play, and after a C.J. Jackson three-pointer, Ohio State led by 10 about midway through the first half. The rest of the half went back and forth, but Jae’Sean Tate and Jackson both played very well. Tate had a double-double going into halftime and the Buckeyes were up by 13, 44-31.
The second half was more of the same. Trevor Thompson got involved, JaQuan Lyle made some plays, and the rest of the Bucks did their thing. Everyone got in on the action and it was great to see. Not many teams have the kind of season Ohio State is having, and are still willing to put up an outstanding outing against a top team. They put up a lot of points on a very good defense, while also playing sound on defense themselves. Bronson Koenig was the only Badger who could get going, as the Buckeyes shut down Nigel Hayes and Ethan Happ. Jackson had his best game yet and led Ohio State with 18 points, and also had four steals, four assists, and four rebounds. Lyle had 17 points off the bench and added four assists. Tate had 15 points and 12 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Marc Loving pitched in 10 points and five rebounds. Micah Potter had nine points and five rebounds off the bench. Bronson Koenig led Wisconsin and all scorers with 27 points. D’Mitrik Trice had 14 points off the bench. Vitto Brown had nine points and Hayes had seven. Next up, the Buckeyes will play at Penn State on Tuesday.
