The Buckeyes have had four days off since their last game against Radford, a game they won 82-72. Despite the close margin of victory, the Buckeyes were quite dominate aside from late 3’s and a few fouls during garbage time.
The Texas Southern Tigers enter today’s matchup with a record of 0-2. The Tigers were throttled by Gonzaga in their first game, however they were able to take the Washington State Cougars to overtime where they would again fall by a score of 86-84.
Although the Tigers have seen their season begin with a quick two losses, they look to turn things around with their third straight road game. They will be led by sophomore guard Demontrae Jefferson, who has found his season beginning with a hot streak. Over the first two games, Jefferson averaged 21 points per game and 3.5 assists, and his performance earned him SWAC player of the week honors.
Today’s game will mark the first ever meeting for the two schools, although Ohio State is mildly familiar with the SWAC conference which they are 6-0 against all time. The Buckeyes enter as a 16.5 point favorite, however look for a Tiger team led the hot handed Jefferson to try and steal one here in Columbus.
