Buckeye fans across the country rejoice today as the seemingly impossible has finally occurred: Ohio State just landed a top defensive tackle prospect. Yes, you heard that right, the same team who has missed out on players like Dexter Lawrence, Neville Gallimore, Rashard Lawrence, Antwuan Jackson, Jay Tufele, Marvin Wilson, and more, finally got that elusive DT, and boy is it a good one.
Vincent is a five-star DT out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida by way of Maryland. Vincent is considered to be the 14th best player in the nation and the best player at his position and in the state of Florida. Vincent stands at 6-2, 285 pounds, which means he will likely put on another 10-20 pounds either once he gets on campus or before hand, depending on how the coaches direct him to do so.
So, how excited should ohio state fans be about landing Vincent? VERY. Taron will immediately become the most talented DT on the roster as soon as he steps foot on campus. He is slightly undersized for his position, so there might be a slight curve for him in that department, but do not be surprised to see him play and possibly even start by the first game of the 2018 season.
What ultimately sealed the deal in Vincent picking Ohio State was his longstanding relationship with Buckeyes defensive line coach Larry Johnson. Like most recruits Johnson has landed, Vincent has cited Johnson as a “father figure” among other praise. Urban Meyer and co have to be ecstatic to have finally landed the elite DT that they’ve been longing for. It is a great time to be a Buckeye.
