For the first time in three years, Ohio State has a quarterback battle on its hands featuring players who have yet to start a collegiate game. Dwayne Haskins is likely the front runner, barring something the public does not know, which raises the question for both Tate Martell and Joe Burrow. Burrow is, more likely than not, in the backup role right now.
Redshirt Freshman Tate Martell was a phenom in high school as his unique dual threat style of play makes him a special talent and weapon for the Buckeyes. Yesterday, March 22nd, before Ohio State’s Pro Day, Martell was speaking with the media when he dropped a response that ignited even more excitement throughout Buckeye Nation.
Kevin Harrish of Eleven Warriors first reported via Twitter:
Tate Martell said it’s already been confirmed to him that there will be special packages to get him on the field even if he doesn’t win the starting job.

Each of the three quarterbacks offer a different style of play and if the competition plays out where the depth chart reads “Haskins, Burrow, Martell” these special packages to get Martell and his talent on the field would certainly be a nice added wrinkle in the expectedly potent high octane Buckeye offense in 2018.
Stay tuned with us here at BuckeyesNews as we will continue to bring updates throughout the spring and summer as the Ohio State quarterback situation becomes more clear as well as the role of Tate Martell.
